Product Information

Comté has been produced since the time of Charlemagne and is still traditionally made in more than 190 cheese dairies, known as the "fruitières" in the Jura plateau. Cheesemakers need about 530 litres of milk - the daily production of 30 cows - to make one Comté, weighing approximately 35 kilos. Morning and evening milks from Montbéliard and Tachete de L'est cows are mixed together to make the cheese. Our cheese is matured for twelve months giving a fruity, soft taste that makes it one of our top-selling cheeses loved by even the youngest members of the family!
